Jan MacWhade (Vice President)

Let me Introduce myself as your President and longtime dog breeder/exhibitor and true lover of dogs for over 57 years. My start was in Siberian Huskies which Richard and I bred and showed for over 40 years, owning 2 National Specialty Best of Breed winners which was the thrill of our career. Our interest in Pomeranians started 5 years ago when our knees and hips could not keep up with the Siberian in the ring anymore. We were attracted to the Pom since they were also a nordic breed and do have some of the many traits of the Siberian. We presently own 4 Poms, our first was originally to be purchased as a pet since we had been away from showing for about 10 years; our eye for a good dog led us to a puppy that I took out and finished his championship quickly. Hooked again!! We attended the National Specialty in Louisville, KY just to see Poms from all over the world. For 4 days we sat ringside and chose the type/style we preferred and decided to look for a good show bitch. A few months later we were lucky enough to receive a puppy bitch from Nova Scotia from one of Canadas top breeders. She went on to finish her titles as Can. Champion, Am. Grand Champion Silver awards and ranked #8 bitch in the country that year. We then purchased a young male from Russia out of a line known around the world. He finished his Am. championship by going winners at three Specialty shows and just recently finished his Grand Championship. Our 4th hopeful is a young promising puppy bitch we will be anxious to get in the ring in 2021. We are looking forward to the things we hope will help to protect, promote and educate about the Pomeranian breed through GLPC.
